When Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick designed the Herman Miller Aeron Chair, they combined a deep knowledge of human-centered design with never-before-seen technology to create a task chair unlike any other. Now Aeron has been remastered in practically every way, resulting in a piece that better supports people and the types of work we do today. The 8Z Pellicle suspension seat and back is divided into eight zones of varying tension that cradle and support the body. The PostureFit SL backrest supports the spine while maintaining the natural forward tilt of the pelvis, with adjustable individual pads that provide lumbar support and stabilize the base of the spine for a more powerful seated posture. Whether leaning forward or reclining back, Aeron supports you through the entire range of motion, keeping your movements smooth and balanced.
Ergonomic Design
Ergonomic to the core, Aeron was designed for a wide range of body types, thanks to the extensive research from designers Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick nearly 30 years ago. Its launch was pioneering in the office furniture industry—and it still is, thanks to updated research and material innovation, including the addition of ocean-bound plastic to the body of the chair. Aeron offers smarter weight distribution through 8Z Pellicle, adjustable PostureFit SL for total spinal support, and balanced recline and natural movement thanks to Harmonic 2 Tilt.
Sustainability
Aeron is up to 91% recyclable based on available recycling facilities. Aeron is composed of more than 50% recycled material, including ocean-bound plastic. Aeron is BIFMA Level 3 certified and has also received the Indoor Advantage Gold certification, SCS Global Services’ highest level of indoor air quality performance for furniture. The certification ensures that furniture products support a healthy indoor environment by meeting strict chemical emission limits for volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Size and Specifications
The Aeron Chair comes in three sizes suited to different heights and weights. Size A is designed for smaller body types, with a weight capacity of 136kgs. Dimensions for Size A: Height: 870–978mm, Width: 699–744mm, Depth: 686–699mm, Seat Height: 366–490mm, Seat Depth: 406mm. The chair features adjustable arms for height and optional pivot adjustments, providing customizable ergonomic support tailored to your needs. The forward tilt feature moves the seat slightly forward, promoting active sitting by shifting your body into a more forward-leaning posture, which is great for tasks like typing or writing.
Material and Color
Available in a palette of four meticulously curated material expressions centered on elements pulled from the earth. Graphite is a distinctive dark grey, with a classic textured finish. Each component of the chair was thoughtfully designed, creating a fundamentally harmonious colour palette. The graphite version of the Aeron Chair has an almost black frame and base with a matching 8Z Pellicle fabric seat and back.
Adjustability and Comfort
The Aeron Chair in Graphite is offered in three configurations: Basic Adjustable, which offers basic zonal back support, tilt-limiter, height adjustable arms, and multi-floor castors. Fully Adjustable, which offers Adjustable PostureFit SL, tilt-limiter/seat angle, fully adjustable arms, braking multi-floor Quiet Roll castors. Executive, which offers a polished aluminum chassis and base, Adjustable PostureFit SL, tilt-limiter/seat angle, fully adjustable arms, braking multi-floor Quiet Roll castors, and black leather arm pads. Easy-to-use comfort knobs have replaced levers for both tilt adjustments. Adjusting the tension of the recline is faster and easier than ever. With only a few turns of the tension knob, you will feel a noticeable difference. The tension knob controls how easily you recline in the chair and should be adjusted based on your body weight and sitting preferences.
