I was worried about replacing the original wooden base of my Thomasville chair with a more modern style, but when the cost of a new wooden base was over $200, I decided to try this one out. It was a perfect fit. From the diameter of the riser cylinder, to the width of the base, it fits perfectly. The casters roll much more easily than the vintage-brass-style ones that were part of the original base. (Their difficulty in rolling smoothly was one of the factors that lead to the wooden base breaking.) This base is easy to assemble and easy to install. It is solid and stable, and does not look out of place on a vintage-style wood & leather chair. I daresay my chair is better with this base.
